She started with the lead role in Kannada and became the most popular actress in Telugu films. Started her first movie with the Kannada film Baa Nanna Preethisu, directed by S. Siddalingaiah. In the same year she did Gandharva, Raithu Bharatham. Her maximum movies are in the Telugu language. Her first Telugu movie was Rajendrudu Gajendrudu, directed by S. V. Krishna Reddy. She came to the recognition with the film Hello Brother (1994). In 2002, She was awarded the National Film Award for Best Feature Film as producer for the Kannada film Dweepa.
